SHOTPLANS is a free overhead shot-diagramming tool for filmmakers, cinematographers, and production designers. We've designed it to do as much work as possible right in your browser or on your device. This policy explains what data we do (and mostly don't) collect.
Project data (stays on your device): Your shot plans,
scenes, cameras, actors, lights, props, lamps, chairs, walls, doors,
labels, gear lists, animation keyframes, scene names, and project
names are saved locally to your browser's storage or, when you choose
to do so, exported as a file you control (.shotplan.json,
PDF, or PNG). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly
share or export it.
Standard web server logs: When you visit the SHOTPLANS website or installed app, our hosting provider may automatically log the standard request information every website receives: IP address, user agent string, requested URL, timestamp, referrer, and response status. These logs are used solely to keep the service running, to investigate errors and abuse, and to compile aggregate usage statistics. They are retained for no longer than 30 days.
What we do not collect: We don't collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photo library, microphone, camera, screen recordings, advertising identifiers, or any other personal information unless you explicitly send it to us by email.
SHOTPLANS does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or
third-party analytics cookies. The app may use your browser's
localStorage and IndexedDB to save your
projects locally, and a service worker to make the app work offline.
These are first-party only and never transmitted off your device.
SHOTPLANS is designed for general audiences and is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please email [email protected] and we will delete it.
When installed as a Progressive Web App or Android app, SHOTPLANS may ask the operating system for the following permissions, only when needed to provide the feature you've requested:
.shotplan.json project files, PDF exports, and PNG
exports you create.SHOTPLANS does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, precise location, SMS, phone state, or background activity.
We use the following third-party services strictly to deliver the app to your device. None of them are sent personal information by SHOTPLANS:
Because we don't store an account or your project data on our servers, there is no account to delete. To remove all SHOTPLANS data from your device, you can:
If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, write to [email protected] and we'll remove it.
Because almost everything happens on-device and the site is served
over HTTPS, the attack surface is small. We don't operate a database
of user content, so there is nothing on our side for a breach to
leak. We still recommend you keep backups of important
.shotplan.json files in your own cloud storage.
SHOTPLANS is offered globally. Because we don't collect personal data, requirements under the GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws are substantially limited; your rights to access, correct, port, and delete personal data are satisfied by the local-only design and the deletion options above.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and post the new version on this page. Continued use of SHOTPLANS after a change means you accept the updated policy.
